Abstract. The article analyzes the results of the XVI BRICS Summit in Kazan on October 22–24, 2024, which summed up the results of 2024, held under the Russian presidency. The summit Declaration contains a report on the cooperation of the alliance’s member countries during this period in politics, financial and economic cooperation, and the humanitarian sphere. It also reflects many problems and perspectives of the international world order, the main of which are touched upon by the authors. It is stated that the BRICS member countries expressed understanding and support for Russia’s interests in protecting its national security, called for the elimination of hot spots on the planet (in the Middle East, Afghanistan, etc.). Progress is shown in economic, financial, scientific and technological cooperation, as well as in humanitarian contacts between subjects in the BRICS. The focus is on the New Development Bank and the Pool of Foreign Exchange Reserves operating in the alliance, which contribute to the development of the infrastructure of the shareholder countries and mutual financing in national currencies. Much attention is paid to the cooperation of the member countries in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), industry, medicine, science and technical innovations. The ongoing process of BRICS expansion is noted. There is a new category of BRICS partner-countries. There has been a growing interest in the alliance from a number of countries in the South and East. Cuba and Indonesia have applied to join the BRICS in 2024. The conclusion is drawn, based on the international response from the Kazan summit, that it was another step towards building a more equitable and polycentric world order, the need for which has long been overdue.
