Abstract. The article summarizes the results of the Inter-institutional seminar of the Center for Development and Modernization Studies of IMEMO. The theme of the meeting was “Modernization and Development Processes in the Context of International Tension”. A wide range of issues related to the new role of the countries of the world’s Periphery in global politics and economy was discussed during the seminar session. Editorial office publishes the main abstracts of some talks of the research team of the Center.
