Abstract. The article is devoted to the review and comparative analysis of the XIV and XV BRICS summits held in 2022 and 2023, taking into account the prospects of BRICS expansion and Russia’s chairmanship at the summit in 2024. The transition from the designation of the alliance partners’ reaction to the significant aggravation of international relations after February 2022, initially cautious support for Russia in its confrontation not only with Ukraine but also with the Western coalition as a whole, and the trend of BRICS enlargement to a significant expansion of the alliance demonstrates that the vector of evolution of this alliance is certainly developing in a positive direction. Five countries from the South and East have agreed to join BRICS in 2023, and a number of other non-Western countries have declared their intention to join the alliance. It is noted that despite the existence of considerable contradictions among the BRICS member countries, the process of establishing a new polycentric world order in contrast to the existing Western-centric one is actively underway.
